"The overall president is here."

Seong-ho Kim entered the conference room, and the executives all rose from their seats at once.

Seong-ho Kim gave the executives a slight bow of the head in greeting, then gestured with his hand.

"Let's have everyone sit."

Seated in the topmost chair, Seong-ho Kim looked out over the Ilhyeon Electronics executives gathered in the conference room and thought.

It wasn't the first time he'd sat in the top seat.

Back when he was President of Ilhyeon Heavy Industries, and through the many president's seats he'd held before that, he'd looked down at his executives from the top seat plenty of times.

But never before had he looked down at so many people at once.

Right now, more than a hundred people were watching Seong-ho Kim carefully, their eyes holding both fear and unease at once.

Seong-ho Kim felt something swell in his chest, and slowly opened his mouth.

"All the executives of Ilhyeon Electronics have gathered here, but I believe you all already understand, without my needing to say it, why there are empty seats among you."

At Seong-ho Kim's words, everyone's eyes naturally turned toward the seats where the division presidents ought to have been sitting.

"It's precisely because of the empty president's seats today that I asked you all to come."

Seong-ho Kim looked at the empty seats for a moment, then brought his mouth back to the microphone.

"At next year's regular executive personnel session, there will be sweeping reorganization, including the filling of the vacant president's seats. I want to let you know in advance that we plan to simplify the structure, including the division system that has divided us up until now. Now then, Managing Director Jeong. Please begin."

At Seong-ho Kim's instruction, Managing Director Un-ho Jeong of the Management Support Division stepped forward.
