“Uwaaaaaah! Uwaaaaah!”
CRASH-CRASH! CRASH!!
Ju Miju’s house.
Lee Jeongjun, home from school, had his eyes turned over.
From the moment he stepped into the house he smashed the things in it up as they came to hand.
Swinging his father’s golf putter, he broke the neatly ordered pieces one after another.
The glass door of the display cabinet, the side table set in the living room and the flower-arrangement table on top of it, the television hung on the wall and the rest of it — he shattered whatever caught his eye.
He was not the quiet Lee Jeongjun usually seen at home.
Reason paralysed by rage, his lid had come off.
At the shame taken at school, his patience had gone.
He had pressed the rage down in silence, come home, and in the end it went off in the house.
“Die! Ha Tae-uuung! Dieeeeee!!”
Bang! Bang! SMAAASH!!
He swung it about in every direction, violently enough to bend the putter.
Fragments flew and split the back of his hand, and the blood came.
And even so the rage would not settle!
“Kh-h-h-h-h…….”
He had bitten his lip so hard that drops of blood showed.
It is the figure of a wounded animal.
“Ha Tae-ung…… Ha Tae-ung…….”
Lee Jeongjun has lived without knowing failure.
Even parents at odds with each other held their breath in front of their son.
His younger sister is a distant relation of his in any case.
Coming into the good books of the adults of his father’s house and his mother’s, through academic achievement, was his only purpose.
It is the reason no investment was spared on private tutoring and the rest of it.
Printing top of the second year, he had laid solid plans for what came after.
Once Kang Junu graduates there is no competitor in the same year group.
His relation Lee Hyoju is no match.
His father’s side is pushed down in the group rankings, but with his mother’s side’s reputation he can take the Management Studies Society presidency easily enough.
Everything was going smoothly, according to plan.
And then, because of the charity case Ha Tae-ung, the whole board was turned over.
And on top of that, today he was properly done in by Ha Tae-ung.
“Kang Junu, Jang Jiyu! You two had it arranged between you…… that’s it!”
Ha Tae-ung’s unbelievable false assets, confirmed by the two of them alone.
A trillion makes no sense.
Beep.
Just then Ju Miju, stepping in at the front door.
“Aaaaargh!”
At the sight of a house turned to wreckage a scream burst out of Ju Miju’s mouth.
Startled and thrown, she turned her gaze toward her son.
“J— Jeongjun-a! What is all this?”
Ju Miju asked it, stammering.
Her husband’s putter, held in Lee Jeongjun’s hand, is bent visibly.
Blood is dripping from her son’s hand on the club and falling to the floor.
“Mom.”
“Uh…… y— yes. Son.”
Ju Miju answered in a shaking voice.
In the two eyes of her son Lee Jeongjun as he called her, a blue goblin fire hung frighteningly.
A look chilling even at a glance.
“I’m hungry.”
“Mm?”
“Give me food.”
Tuung.
Lee Jeongjun, setting the putter down on the floor as though throwing it, and moving his steps toward the bathroom.
What is going on! Why has Jeongjun……
Ju Miju, her body trembling all over, looked at her son as he turned away and disappeared.
From her son’s back she sensed a strange energy.
However much of a nightmare he has been, apeshit like this in the house is a first.
It was certain there had been something at school today that stressed him.
In that moment one name came suddenly into Ju Miju’s head.
“Ha Tae-ung??”
“……!!”
An Hyeonju was startled for a moment.
The school, gone quiet with everybody returned to their own homes.
A man who appeared just as Ha Tae-ung and she had fixed on drinks and were about to move.
At a glance he is a wreck.
A beard grown as it pleased and hair tangled and shaggy.
The clothes he has on are shabby too.
Even with some distance between them a thick smell of drink came off the man.
And the problem is one knife, blue-edged and sharp, held in the man’s hand.
It is not an ordinary knife.
A long blade that looks a good fifty centimetres.
It is a sharp sashimi knife of the sort to be seen at a raw fish restaurant.
“Heh heh heh…… today you’re dead by my hand.”
The voice was familiar to her ear.
An Hyeonju, as though drawn, looked the man over closely.
“Teacher Lee Jangyong?”
The man’s name burst out of An Hyeonju’s mouth.
The former Cheonghwa High School maths teacher who had come to the range now and then to learn golf.
“Shut up! You sly bitch!”
“……!!”
The eyes of a Lee Jangyong spitting foul talk out flashed with madness.
“You ignored me when I asked you to eat with me, and you’re sleeping with that bastard? Filthy bitch! Pff!!”
In the past Lee Jangyong had set his sights on An Hyeonju.
At the time a good many of the male teachers serving at Cheonghwa High School held a liking for An Hyeonju.
An unmarried woman, a professional golfer overflowing with charm.
An Hyeonju was somebody who carried herself high and haughty with all of them.
At the sight of a woman like that showing her liking in front of Ha Tae-ung, Lee Jangyong’s killing intent exploded.
“Why would somebody who resigned over a disgraceful incident come here, I wonder?”
Ha Tae-ung, not thrown in the least.
“You fucking son of a bitch! It’s all ruined because of you!!”
Lee Jangyong could have lived a life with room enough in it even after leaving the teaching post.
With his ability it would not have been hard to become a Gangnam star tutor able to earn tens of billions a year.
And then, when he actually stood in front of a blackboard in the private education world after resigning, the problem broke.
The events of that day in the great hall, when he was broken by Ha Tae-ung, became a trauma.
From straight afterwards, as though it were a lie, his brilliant mathematical reasoning stopped working.
He could barely get through a primary school maths problem without trouble.
The moment he went into the advanced middle school course the calculation would not come.
Once that had repeated a few times in front of a class the rumour spread in an instant.
The visits of the Gangnam entrance-exam academy principals, who had been coming to him offering signing fees in the billions, stopped.
Even when he telephoned first they did not answer.
Imagining a confident future after resigning, he frequented the top-grade hostess bars and enjoyed himself until he lost even his housing deposit.
A man who had never once done a thing called saving, he became a beggar in a moment.
Today was golden timing, come upon deliberately by a man with nothing left to lose.
He went over the wall timed exactly to the security guard’s rest period.
The sashimi knife he had prepared several days ago too.
It seemed he would be able to sleep only once Ha Tae-ung had been got rid of.
He had obtained the information long since that Ha Tae-ung sometimes learns golf at the range once the regular lessons finish.
Lee Jangyong, who had hidden himself in the sports equipment store until it grew quiet, and appeared.
“I’m calling the police!”
An Hyeonju shrieked.
And she worked her smartphone.
“Do as you like. I’ve no thought of living myself after killing the pair of you anyway. Heh heh heh.”
Lee Jangyong, who spent an unhappy childhood.
Things having come to this, there was no hope.
A life lived to this point with an arrogant attitude, on the strength of mathematical ability alone being acknowledged.
The whole of his grudge against the world pointed at Ha Tae-ung.
“Heh.”
Ha Tae-ung laughed coldly.
That infuriating smile seen in the great hall.
“You fucking bastard! Dieeeeeee!!”
Lee Jangyong, raising the sashimi knife and rushing at Ha Tae-ung.
Nothing at all was visible to eyes narrowed down to madness and to failure.
“……!!”
An Hyeonju, who had been working her smartphone, was startled.
A madman who seems already to have given up the life left to him was throwing that madness about.
At exactly that moment!
Whoosh!
Thwack!
“Aaaargh!!”
Clang.
Thud! Thud! Thud-thud-thud-thud!
Ha Tae-ung swung the driver he was holding, aimed at the knife coming in.
Following it, he struck Lee Jangyong’s back and abdomen and shoulder, hard and short.
“Agh! Kwaaargh! Uwagh!”
Every time the sound of a blow was heard, Lee Jangyong vomited an agonised scream and scrabbled along the floor.
Thud! Thwack! Thud!
“T— Tae-ung-a!”
An Hyeonju was horrified.
A Ha Tae-ung who is usually the very model of manners was carrying out violence without mercy or consideration.
Snap.
Ha Tae-ung, stopping in the middle of swinging the driver.
“Ugh-h-h…… agh…… ukh.”
Lee Jangyong, feeling about his body here and there and crying out at the pain.
It seemed various bones had broken.
Vomiting groans, he is half out of his wits.
Tick, ti-tick.
Ha Tae-ung, at once taking his smartphone out and calling somewhere.
“Attorney. I’ve just caught an attempted murderer using a bladed weapon at the school, at the scene. I’ll ask you to handle it.”
Ha Tae-ung’s low voice was like a reaper’s voice.
“Ugh-h-h…….”
Lee Jangyong, unable to stop the agonised groaning, as though his bones had been crushed to powder.
Face creased, he shut his eyes tight.
The honour of a Cheonghwa High School maths teacher, short and brilliant and looking set to run on thick and long, was ending that way.
The life of a human being who had lived hiding a perverted disposition.
Now…… truly out…….
