Ning Chen still had a lot of feeling for the Great Xuan.

More precisely, it was the Xuan Emperor he felt so deeply about.

The Xuan Emperor had worked tirelessly and given the Great Xuan an age of peace and plenty.

The Great Xuan was scarred and battered now, but Ning Chen didn't want to see it reduced to rubble.

If he could take Liangzhou at the lowest possible cost, so much the better.

The rest was up to Yuan Long and Prince Wu!

Song Gaozhuo and the soldiers of Liangzhou spent two days on edge.

Those two days were agony!

Ning Chen kept his troops where they were. With no idea when he'd attack, they had to stay on guard every moment.

In those two days Song Gaozhuo slept only four or five hours, and badly at that... Several times he jolted awake from a nightmare, dreaming Ning Chen had broken through the gate and was cutting his way into Liangzhou.

On the third day, Ning Chen still hadn't moved.

It was late at night, but Song Gaozhuo didn't dare shut his eyes.

Just then, hurried footsteps sounded outside the tent.

"General Song, the reinforcements are here!"

Song Gaozhuo had gone too long without rest, and his head was foggy, but the scout's voice cleared it in an instant.

His face lit up with delight. He shot to his feet and strode out of the tent.

He looked at the scout who'd brought the report, unable to hide his excitement. "What did you say?"

The scout said, "General, the mission is back from Yangzhou... Lord Wu has brought fifty thousand reinforcements!"

Song Gaozhuo paused. He'd thought the eastern frontier army had arrived. He hadn't expected Nanyue reinforcements.

But a moment later he was overjoyed.

Eastern frontier army or Nanyue army, either one was like rain in a drought to him right now.

Liangzhou's seventy-some thousand plus Nanyue's fifty thousand... With a hundred and twenty thousand troops, they could give Ning Chen's hundred thousand a real fight.

"Where are the reinforcements?"

The scout said, "Three miles outside the south gate."
