Liu Kuan looked at Ning Chen and bowed. "To answer my lord prince, His Majesty does not know about this!

What my lord prince may not know is that this servant has been appointed by imperial order to oversee the Household Office. Taking back a residence is the Household Office's business too."

Ning Chen gave a cold laugh. "The Household Office's business too, is it? Then do you know this is Old General Chen's residence?"

"Please calm yourself, my lord prince. This servant is only following the rules!"

Ning Chen narrowed his eyes at him. "Liu Kuan, isn't it?"

"Yes!"

"Tell me. If this prince killed you, would His Majesty hold it against this prince?"

Liu Kuan's face changed in an instant.

Ning Chen walked up to Liu Kuan with his sword in his hand.

Liu Kuan stared at Ning Chen in fear.

Ning Chen didn't draw the sword. He swung it, scabbard and all, and brought it down hard on Liu Kuan's head.

Bang!!!

Liu Kuan screamed and went straight down.

Ning Chen swung the sword and beat Liu Kuan with it, hard, until he was rolling all over the ground.

He didn't stop until his arm was tired!

Ning Chen looked at the two young eunuchs. "Take him back!"

"Y-yes, sir!"

The two young eunuchs were frightened out of their wits.

Liu Kuan howled in pain, but deep in his eyes was the satisfaction of a scheme that had worked.

The old soldiers of the general's residence looked at Ning Chen with worried faces... Even they knew Ning Chen was in serious trouble this time.

Liu Kuan was to the new emperor what Eunuch Quan was to the Xuan Emperor.

Beating Liu Kuan was as good as slapping the new emperor in the face.

Ning Chen pointed at the plaque. "Find the best craftsmen, have the plaque repaired, and hang it back up."

"Yes!"

"Before he died, the old general asked me to make sure I looked after you... Do you have any plans?"

The men looked at one another. All they knew was fighting. They knew nothing…
