Bang! Bang! Bang!!!

The sound was like a thunderclap, and firelight bloomed in the powder smoke.

The Zhaohe soldiers in the front rank screamed and went down in a swath!

The Ning'an Army men who had fired dropped back to reload.

The men behind came up at once, raised their muskets and fired.

They fired by turns, one rank and then the other, and the musket fire never let up.

The Zhaohe soldiers were cut down like wheat under the sickle, whole rows of them at a time.

Banyuan Guangxi was frightened out of his wits.

"Fall back, fall back now...!"

He roared it until his voice broke, then turned and ran with his soldiers.

"After them!"

Lei An gave the order.

A thousand officers and men went after them with their muskets up.

The musket fire did not stop.

The Zhaohe soldiers at the rear kept going down.

Lei An smiled coldly. As soon as the fighting began, Ning Chen had ordered him to take a thousand men around the edge of the field and wait here for the Zhaohe soldiers.

It had been easy enough to see coming.

Once the Zhaohe army broke, it was bound to fall back into the valley.

Banyuan Guangxi's blood had gone cold with fright, and he ran like a madman with his men.

Lei An led his men after him and would not be shaken off.

One ran and the other chased. By the time they reached the mouth of the valley, Banyuan Guangxi's legs gave under him and he nearly went down.

There was not much left of his thirty thousand men.

The whole mouth of the valley was heaped with bodies and the blood ran like a river.

"We surrender, we surrender...!"

"Mighty soldiers of the Great Xuan, please accept our surrender."

Banyuan Guangxi threw down his sword.

The Zhaohe soldiers behind him threw down their swords too, raised both hands and shouted their surrender all together.

That made Ning Chen laugh.

He had never seen a surrender shouted so neatly, or with so much force behind it.

The Zhaohe…
