The corner of the Xuan Emperor's mouth twitched. "You went and squeezed them for it?"

Ning Chen: "......"

"Your Majesty, squeezed is not the right word for it. They forced it on your subject."

The Xuan Emperor gave a grunt. As if he did not know Ning Chen by now.

Those soft bones of the peace party had probably had their stomachs turned about as far as they would go this time.

Ning Chen's smile was pure flattery. "Your Majesty, your subject has even thought out for you how the silver ought to be spent."

The Xuan Emperor's expression froze. "You have thought it out for this emperor?"

Ning Chen said quickly, "No, no... your subject only offers a suggestion."

The Xuan Emperor said, "Let me hear it."

"Your Majesty, all of this is the fat and blood of the common people, and as the saying goes, what is taken from the people is used for the people... Your subject would like to found a Nurture Hall in Your Majesty's name, to take in the children who have no homes."

"Your subject will find teachers to teach those children to read and write, and when they are grown they will certainly remember Your Majesty's grace, and serve the country, and share Your Majesty's cares."

"And one thing more... Zisu has wanted all along to open a clinic and treat the poor. Your subject would ask Your Majesty to grant it a plaque, so that the people can see Your Majesty's benevolence."

The corner of the Xuan Emperor's mouth lifted before he could stop it.

These were all acts of benevolence.

By doing this, Ning Chen was making a name for him as emperor.

Acts of benevolence like these would make the common people of the empire love him the more.

The Xuan Emperor nodded slightly. "This emperor approves it!"

"The silver is handed over to you. The founding of the Nurture Hall is yours to manage from end to end."

Ning Chen bowed. "Your subject obeys the command!"

"Your Majesty, your subject has one more gift to offer Your Majesty."
