Meng Fan pointed the imperial sword at Yuan Long and Lei An as they closed in step by step. "What do you think you're doing?"

Yuan Long gave a wicked smile. "Looks like you've already guessed, Lord Meng. So why ask?"

Meng Fan was furious. "You, you wouldn't dare!"

Yuan Long waved his army boot and laughed coldly. "This general has the nerve to rebel. What's left to be afraid of?

Today I'm not just going to slap you in the face. I'm going to grind the court's face into the dirt.

Lei An, get them!"

Meng Fan swung the imperial sword. "Get back! Get away from me..."

Dong Zhien was roaring too. "You wouldn't dare! This minister will fight you to the death..."

Lei An sneered, "If you want to fight to the death, you have to be able to fight first."

Not being afraid to die didn't mean you could fight.

Yuan Long easily dodged Meng Fan's chop, then slapped him over the head with the army boot. Meng Fan yelped and went sprawling.

Lei An had it even easier. He pinned Dong Zhien to the floor with one hand and beat him over the head with the boot in the other.

"Bastard! You bastard, let go of this minister! This minister will kill you..."

"You animals who deal with the enemy and betray the country, you traitors and rebels, you're bound to stink for ten thousand years! Her Majesty won't let you off... If you've got the guts, kill this minister..."

Meng Fan and Dong Zhien screamed curses at the top of their lungs.

In the Great Xuan, unless a father was disciplining his son, hitting someone with a shoe was the ultimate insult.

For a scholar above all, being hit over the head with a shoe was worse than being killed.

And they were imperial commissioners. They stood for the court.

Yuan Long and Lei An weren't just slapping their faces. They were slapping the court's.
