"So you're telling me this man here is the same person…? And now that I look, the women have something alike about their faces too."

"That isn't all of it. Look here."

Seong-ho Kim held out one of the photographs lying on the table.

"This is the pair who were said to look like a mother-in-law and her son-in-law, going to the county office together to register after the deal was done."

"Huh? The man really is the same."

Mun-jong Lee studied the man in sunglasses walking beside a woman with a parasol outside the county office building, and nodded.

"The clothes are different and the sunglasses keep me from making out the face properly, but it's all the same man."

"Here's the mother-in-law, here's the wife's older sister, here's the wife's younger sister… And though we couldn't get a photograph of them, there were people said to look like husband and wife as well, so it looks as though this man's own wife was brought in to buy land too."

"So you're saying the whole family has been feeding off me?"

"With this man at the center of it, yes."

Mun-jong Lee crushed the photograph in his fist.

And he flung it down on the floor and shouted,

"So I've been taken by this one bastard?"

"Brother. It isn't finished yet."

"Not finished? There's more?"

Seong-ho Kim calmed him down.

He said he hadn't finished and there was more to look at, and rummaged through the pile of photographs.

And he drew one out.

"Look here."

Seong-ho Kim pointed a finger at the man in the photograph.

"This is the one time he isn't wearing sunglasses. Doesn't he look like somebody you know?"

Hearing him, Mun-jong Lee narrowed his eyes and studied the photograph.

"The face is familiar… where have I seen him?"

"You met him yesterday."

"I met this man yesterday?"

Mun-jong Lee looked startled.

Because he had no idea who it could be that he was supposed to have met yesterday.

"I really met this man yesterday?"

"Yes. You met him."

"And it makes sense that…
