"What? He really said that?"
"Yes. He said that if you do not take part you will leave the Ilhyeon Group empty-handed."
"No. What is Sang-jong Lee? Who is he, to say whether I go out empty-handed or not?"
"Whatever else, it was the second brother who set this business going from the start."
"And what has that to do with anything?"
Jeong-eun Lee sprang up.
But Chang-jong Lee knew well that it changed nothing.
Bang, bang!
A knocking came at the door, and a prison officer came into the interview room.
"3776. Keep it quiet."
He had struck the iron door to say it; now he looked down at his wristwatch.
"You have ten minutes, so finish up inside that."
Having told Chang-jong Lee what the visit had left, he looked at Jeong-eun Lee again and said,
"Make a disturbance again and your next visit will not be in an interview room. It will be in the same place as everybody else's."
Jeong-eun Lee clenched her back teeth and turned her head, avoiding his eyes on purpose.
The officer looked a moment at the silence he had got, and shut the door.
Hearing the iron door close, Jeong-eun Lee growled low.
"When I get out of here I will not leave that man alone. I will bury him along with Seong-ho Kim."
Living in the prison seemed to have laid up a great store of ill feeling toward the officers.
Chang-jong Lee glanced round at the shut door and dropped his own voice as low.
"Him I can understand, but why Seong-ho? Think how hard he has worked over this business."
"If that dog has worked hard at it, that is all the more reason to distrust it. He is helping for some scheme of his own, depend upon it."
"Sister."
Chang-jong Lee did not know why Jeong-eun Lee hated Seong-ho Kim.
But there was little time, and he thought he had better get to the Ilhyeon Chemical business than go into it.
"Haah… let that be, then… so what will you do? Do you truly not want it?…
