"You told them to give you Ilhyeon Solar Ace?"
Chang-jong Lee put the question urgently to Sang-jong Lee, who was eating steak in the detention centre's interview room.
Sang-jong Lee spat the meat he had been chewing into a tissue and said irritably,
"It has all gone cold and turned tough."
He had grumbled without so much as answering the question. Chang-jong Lee stared at him in disbelief, pressed his exasperation down hard, and said,
"Did you really say you would come out?"
"What, do you think you can hang on to it forever? When the pair of us are convicts now? Do you suppose Father will treat us as human beings at all?"
"No. Even so, coming out like this…"
Chang-jong Lee smacked his lips uneasily and said,
"Might he not take us back once some time has passed?"
"Do you still not see it? It is finished. We are not even sons to Father any more."
Sang-jong Lee looked down at the steak, gone quite cold now.
It was the steak he had asked Seong-ho Kim for at the last visit, and Chang-jong Lee had brought it in.
He looked at it a moment, made a face of regret, and picked up the fork and knife he had set down.
"Still, it is better than the food in here."
Watching him eat the steak that the cold had toughened, Chang-jong Lee cried out in exasperation.
"No. Brother. I am telling you it is better for us not to go out at all and hold on."
"Why?"
He had asked it while chewing away at the meat he had cut. Chang-jong Lee looked at him and said in exasperation,
"When Father dies we can demand a reserved share. We have a rightful portion of the estate, I tell you."
"And if he has written a will? What then? With a character like his, do you suppose he has not written one?"
