Three people were walking down a quiet corridor of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.

The man walking ahead stopped in front of a door and spoke to the two following him.

"This is it. You'll have to finish within thirty minutes."

"Thank you."

Seong-ho Kim thanked the prosecutors' office employee who had shown them the way and turned to Min-yeong Oh.

"Do go in."

Min-yeong Oh, who had been weeping, wiped her eyes with her sleeve and opened the door.

Inside sat Jun-myeong Lee in prison clothes, handcuffs on his wrists and his head bowed.

"Jun-myeong."

Min-yeong Oh went in, calling Jun-myeong Lee's name in an anguished voice.

"Jun-myeong. Are you all right? Are you all right?"

"Mom…"

At the sight of Min-yeong Oh, Jun-myeong Lee burst into tears.

"Mom. Get me out of here. Hm? I can't stay in here. Please, get me out."

"Mom will get you out, I promise. Mom will…"

Min-yeong Oh soothed Jun-myeong Lee, then looked his body over to see whether he had been hurt anywhere while he had been in.

And the handcuffs fastened on Jun-myeong Lee's wrists came into her eye.

Seong-ho Kim too noticed Jun-myeong Lee's handcuffs and spoke to the investigator standing beside them.

"This is a meeting with his mother, after all — oughtn't you to take the cuffs off?"

At that the investigator shook his head with an awkward face.

"I can't. There is a risk of flight, so the cuffs cannot be taken off."

"A risk of flight? What has our child done that's so terrible? Do you know who this boy's father is?"

At the investigator's words Min-yeong Oh screamed as though in a fit.

Because it distressed her to hear Jun-myeong Lee spoken of as a criminal.

But the investigator did not budge at the sight of a Min-yeong Oh like that.
