In the car heading to Jinju, Seong-ho gave Byeong-jin Jo an instruction.
"Try to set up a meeting with the KF club."
"Why, is something going on?"
"I want to bring over a player from KF."
"You don't need to handle player acquisitions yourself. I'll talk it over with the general manager and negotiate with KF."
"This one isn't at the general manager's level."
Byeong-jin Jo, hands on the wheel, glanced at Seong-ho with a puzzled look. Then, keeping his eyes back on the road, he asked, "Is there some reason the GM can't handle a player trade?"
"There is. Just set up the meeting. And add that they'd like the club president to come too, on their side."
"The other side wants the president instead of the GM too? What kind of trade is this… anyway, understood. I'll try to arrange it as soon as possible."
Byeong-jin Jo said he understood for now and drove on toward the Jinju office.
When they arrived at the Jinju office, the staff, who knew Seong-ho was coming, came out to greet him.
"Representative. Welcome."
"You must be working hard even in the off-season."
General Manager Tae-ha Kim bowed his head to Seong-ho with a guilty look, as if the runner-up finish had been his own fault.
"I'm sorry."
"What is there to be sorry about? Real ability shows starting in year two, so just do well next year."
Seong-ho said it was fine and walked into the office, asking General Manager Tae-ha Kim, "I hear you're heading to America starting tomorrow?"
"Yes. I'm planning to go to America to bring in next year's foreign players. And I plan to head first to California, where spring camp will be held."
"Then today's my only chance to talk with you, General Manager."
"Is there something important you need to discuss?"
Seong-ho, who had been walking into the office, paused for a moment and turned his head. Then he asked one of the Jinju office staff, "Where's Manager Ho-yeong Kim?"
"He's at the stadium."
"Of course he's at the stadium."
Seong-ho turned his steps away…
