“You’re asking to die!” Tu Wan had been thinking he had no way to deal with these women for the time being, because the defensive power of the Crystal Dream in front of him had gone far beyond anything he expected. But this proud woman with the divine sword in her hand had actually let his words goad her into abandoning her companions’ protection and stepping out, arrogant as you please.
She didn’t think she could take him on with nothing but a divine sword in her hand, did she?
The divine sword was the legendary Prison Emperor’s divine sword, no question about that.
But how much of its power could she actually bring out?
Deep in Tu Wan’s eyes, a flicker of cruel pleasure surfaced.
What he was about to destroy was a Sky Tower woman warrior who looked flawless from the outside. The higher such a heaven-favored daughter stood, the greater his sense of achievement when he knocked her down and ground her under his heel!
Maybe in less than a minute she would be on her knees before him like a mangy dog, begging for her life.
What kind of humiliation would torment a proud woman like this best? Make her lick his toes on her knees while she wept? Or peel off that flawless white skin of hers, bit by bit, while she begged? Yes — maybe like this: pull out her innards, stretch her long intestines out straight, and fly her in the sky like a human-shaped kite…
“Four Symbols — unite.”
Princess Qianqian slowly stretched out her left arm, then slowly drew it back, closing her five fingers into a fist.
Above her head, countless bolts of lightning condensed into a marvelous Azure Dragon Binding, like a show of sword-qi, or more like a rune formation carrying through the will of sacred power. Wings of all-consuming flame shot up behind her, and their heat drove the golden giant Tu Wan back a step before he could stop himself — and finally snapped him out of his twisted fantasy. When he came back to his senses, he found that, without his noticing, some terrifying power of ice had frozen him below the calves. The strangest thing was that this freezing cold did not clash at all with the heat he breathed in. On the contrary, each brought out the other: the heat grew hotter, and the cold grew colder.
And that was not all.
Tu Wan also sensed a killing intent, buried deep but unmistakably there. It was not one bit weaker than his own Bloodflow’s killing edge, and it was even more sudden and explosive.
Lightning, raging fire, freezing ice and killing intent — once four energies of completely different natures fused perfectly together and were unleashed through a divine sword, the power of it… Tu Wan swallowed hard, quietly, and his contempt turned to caution.
Now, at last, he understood.
These Sky Tower women all cultivated to extremes.
The woman a moment ago was pure defense with no attack power at all; through boundless focus plus her talent, her Crystal Dream barrier could not be cut through even by his Bloodflow scythe-halberd. This woman was the exact opposite. She walked the path of attack and kept no defense at all, pouring all her strength into killing — the type who stakes everything on one strike and kills with that strike.
Dodge her first sword, and she was finished.
A warrior with only attack and no defense was like a cripple walking on one leg. Nothing to be afraid of!
“Kill!”
Princess Qianqian raised the Tiger-Prison Divine Sword high.
The four sacred powers fused into one burst out flawlessly, and in that instant heaven and earth alike trembled before her killing intent.
“Better to sidestep this one.” The golden giant Tu Wan’s expression was grave. He might be an exalted divine-tier power, but he was not brain-dead. A do-or-die killing strike like this was not something he was going to meet head-on; even if he could take it, there was no reason to get hurt. What were face and honor worth? Only the one who won in the end was the true winner on a battlefield.
Besides, a do-or-die move like this did not need to be faced at all. All he had to do was dodge it, easily.
The least effort for the best result — why wouldn’t he?
Tu Wan swung his divine artifact, the Bloodflow scythe-halberd, and cut open space itself. In the instant before the laws of heaven and earth sealed the cut, he passed through it as a streak of golden light and flew off into the endless void. He would be back in three seconds, and he was sure he could then strike back and turn the fight around — at the moment her strongest power was spent, from behind, he would slash off half her body in one heavy blow… And then, he was sure, the look on her face would be something to see!
Hidden away in the void, he did not see what happened next. Princess Qianqian, cutting down with everything she had, took the Four Symbols sacred power — which looked like it had long since passed its limit and could no longer be controlled — and in a thousandth of a second, exactly as she pleased, stopped it dead in midair, held and unreleased.
At some point the Southern Wilderness Demon King had stepped forward.
Her jade-white hand lightly swept the pipa.
The tinkling notes were like a spring running over stones in a forest.
The few Heaven-Devouring companions who had had the same idea as Tu Wan — and had fled into the void even a step ahead of him — suddenly could not stay hidden. One by one their bodies reappeared before Princess Qianqian, and they stared dumbfounded at the Tiger-Prison Divine Sword hanging above their heads…
“Wasn’t that melody of return lovely to listen to? How about a storm next? That one’s heavenly music that can shatter even space itself!” The Southern Wilderness Demon King swept her slender, pale fingers across the jade pipa in her arms with matchless grace, her five fingers spinning like a wheel. The next second, the whole of heaven and earth turned into countless fragments and began to spin like a whirlpool.
“No!” The Heaven-Devouring powers discovered with horror that, with space shattered, Tu Wan — who was supposed to come back and strike from behind — was nowhere to be found, and that they themselves were caught in the vortex of the spatial storm, unable to break free anytime soon.
The Tiger-Prison Divine Sword above their heads ignored every obstacle and came cutting down, inch by inch.
No other power in the world could stand against its will to destroy.
So there they were, watching it come down, all that strength in their bodies and no way at all to use it… The Heaven-Devouring powers screamed in despair — though of course the sound was sucked away by the spatial storm before it even left their lips, with no chance of carrying their terror anywhere. What made them despair even more was that the divine sword did not cut their bodies in two the way an ordinary sword would. It struck hard into the void itself and utterly destroyed the space that kept trying to knit itself back together.
Their bodies were tough, and their talent let them recover completely even from being ground to powder — but none of that helped now, because what she meant to destroy was not their bodies, but this space.
The spatial storm shattered a second time.
It collapsed under the divine sword.
First it burst outward, but before it had finished expanding, the ancient laws took it back and returned it to the original point where creation is eternal.
The Heaven-Devouring powers at the center of the collapsing space had no time even to cry out before they were annihilated in the newborn black hole. Like the annihilated space around them, body and soul alike were stripped away layer by layer, until everything was destroyed back to its original state.
The Extinction God-Seal?
The legendary annihilation and sealing that not even gods could escape… perhaps this was what it looked like!
Just before their souls were annihilated, every one of them suddenly thought of the same dreadful name: the Extinction God-Seal!
Tu Wan found he had lost his bearings in the void. The place where he had secretly left a marker to guide himself back had shattered for no reason he could understand. Maybe this was some scheme of those Sky Tower women. They could never be a match for him, but they had used a trick to drive him off. Still, if they thought that made them safe, they were dead wrong.
However far into the void he was flung, he would never be separated from the Sky Tower.
He carried a guiding mark from Grand Hall Master Dongfang’s talent, and whatever happened, it would never let him lose the Sky Tower.
These smug Sky Tower women — the next time they met, he was sure the looks on their faces would be priceless… Tu Wan swung his Bloodflow scythe-halberd and, following a pull that worked on his body almost like instinct, made his way back to the Sky Tower.
Maybe this time he would land somewhere completely different from before.
But what did that matter?
As long as he was in the Sky Tower, those women — and every living thing in the Sky Tower — could not escape their fate of being beheaded by him!
The revenge the Heaven-Devouring clan had waited ten thousand years for would officially begin at this moment! The instant Tu Wan set his feet back on solid ground in the Sky Tower, he could not help throwing his head back and roaring in triumph. Trap him in the void? Dream on!
“Most exalted divine tier, Grand Hall Master Dongfang has specially ordered us to await your arrival here.” From the sky not far off, nearly a hundred Heavenly Realm auxiliaries came shooting over like arrows, and every one of them threw himself face down on the ground in full prostration to show his reverence for this divine-tier power. Their leader, a minor officer, did not even dare raise his head to look Tu Wan in the face; he only kissed the ground beneath Tu Wan’s feet with boundless adoration while reporting to the descended god: “The place where you now stand is the Sky Stairway on the Sky Tower’s bottom floor. White River Valley on the Sky Stairway’s fifth floor — the entrance to the true Sky Stairway — is less than ten thousand kilometers from here.”
“Very good. Mr. Dongfang always likes to stay one step ahead of everyone else. This god is very pleased with how thorough he is.” Tu Wan was very pleased with these reception envoys, too, flat on the ground and humbly kissing the dirt beneath his feet. Reverence like this told him how highly Grand Hall Master Dongfang valued him, and what courtesy he was being shown.
Of all the countless soldiers in the Heavenly Realm legions, how many got the kind of treatment he was getting?
The Golden Emperor? The Demon Emperor?
Could the welcome they got compare with his?
Never mind the overlords of the East, West, North and the rest, who had come to grab what they could and were bound to walk away with nothing in the end!
In his good mood, Tu Wan felt an urgent need to make some gesture to repay Grand Hall Master Dongfang for the supreme courtesy he had been shown. “Tell me — what does your Grand Hall Master want this god to do? This god may possess a supreme and boundless free will, but this god does not mind hearing out an old friend’s plan. Besides, this god has every faith in his wisdom. A man who never misses a move must have something in mind, yes?”
“It is like this. The Grand Hall Master has discovered a few little Sky Tower rats trying to sneak off and support the Night Empress, who is fighting the Immovable Supreme. He hopes that you, most exalted one, will take action and cut down these clowns on the way, before they can make trouble and change the course of the battle.” The leader of the Heavenly Realm auxiliaries had a superb gift for words, and his flattery was so masterful that Tu Wan felt utterly satisfied, floating on air as if he had drunk fine wine.
“Go back and tell your Grand Hall Master that something this simple is easy work for this god, and next time he had better not give this god a job with no challenge in it at all… Forget it, there’s no point explaining it to the likes of you. Go back and report! Not only the little rats sneaking over here — the Night Empress, who thinks she can take on the Immovable Supreme, will die by this god’s own hand too. Call it a little surprise for Mr. Dongfang, free of charge!” Tu Wan waved his hand haughtily, signaling for the Heavenly Realm auxiliaries to leave.
Gripping his Bloodflow scythe-halberd, he set his divine mind to work, sensing every stir within a thousand li with all his strength.
Sneaky little rats, were they?
Perfect. He was in dire need of a little killing and a little blood to satisfy the hunger he had been thirsting to feed…
