Jiang Wei had always mattered a great deal to Jiang Chao.

Jiang Chao knew it, Jiang Ping knew it, and Xu Ye knew it. The only one who didn't was Jiang Wei.

Xu Ye had told Jiang Chao he'd give the lecture at Fudan next Tuesday. Ever since, he'd been wondering whether to use the chance to get father and daughter in the same room.

There was a misunderstanding between them, and it needed a chance to be cleared up.

For now, Xu Ye was the only one who could give them that chance. But he was afraid he'd only make things worse…

On Monday morning, Xu Ye came into the office and held the usual weekly meeting, which was mostly a way to keep up with how each department was doing. When it was over, he asked Zhang Xinzhou and Jiang Wei to stay behind.

The two of them traded looks. In the end, Jiang Wei spoke first. "What did you want us for?"

"Are you free tomorrow night?"

"Why?"

Xu Ye nodded. "On Saturday I got an invitation from Fudan University to come give a lecture. I want to bring you two along."

He'd expected Jiang Wei to flatly refuse.

If she did, he'd drop it. The last thing he wanted was to add fuel to the fire between her and her father.

But Jiang Wei hesitated.

Zhang Xinzhou, meanwhile, was getting excited. "Do we have to get up and speak too?"

"Yep."

"Holy crap, you should've told me sooner. I need time to prepare."

"I'm not preparing anything. Prepare, my ass."

Xu Ye turned to Jiang Wei. "What about you? Are you coming?"

"I'm coming." Jiang Wei acted like it was nothing, and she had her reason ready. "I've put a lot into getting the company where it is. If there's a chance like this, why wouldn't I go?"

"Okay."

Xu Ye nodded, perfectly calm. "Then it's settled. We'll head over together tomorrow afternoon."

Jiang Wei didn't linger in the meeting room.

She didn't know there was anything between Jiang Chao and Xu Ye. But she knew…
