The others, who knew nothing about any of it, were all talking and laughing.

Xu Ye finished ordering and handed the menu back to the server.

A few minutes later the server wheeled over a four-tier cart loaded with everything already prepped.

They laid grease paper down on the grills, and then everybody got to work on the meat…

Seeing the six of them all paired off, Jiang Yu suddenly felt like the odd one out. Right at that moment, her wish for a boyfriend hit an all-time high.

Xu Ye missed nothing, of course. Seeing Jiang Yu sitting there on her own, absently turning the beef over on the grill, he got up and poured her a beer himself. "Jiang Yu, our resident beauty. What's on your mind? You're a million miles away."

Jiang Yu sighed and said it without any particular drama. "I'm thinking about how I might be the odd one out here. All of you are paired off and I'm the only single one."

Xu Ye jumped in to reassure her. "Come on. Looking the way you do, finding a boyfriend would be no trouble at all."

"Right?"

Her roommates chimed in after him.

Jiang Yu hadn't planned on drinking beer, but since Xu Ye had already poured it, she picked the glass up and took a sip.

It tasted strange, not what she'd pictured.

She muttered, "No trouble, my ass. There isn't a single person chasing me. Where am I supposed to find one?"

Xu Ye laughed. "You don't have to sit around waiting for somebody to chase you. If you meet somebody you like you can make the first move, same as Qingqing did with me."
