Zhang Ruowei watched the driver she'd hired ride off on his electric bike, then opened the car door and looked around the parking garage. She had no idea what to do now.
Back over National Day, when they'd driven past here, Zhao Ming had told her he lived in this complex — but she had no idea which building he was in, or which floor.
And right now Zhao Ming was still doing the drunk act, sprawled across the back seat like a man who couldn't stand up if you paid him.
And just as Zhang Ruowei had no idea what to do—
A phone started ringing in the car. Zhang Ruowei reached into Zhao Ming's pants pocket and pulled out his phone, and when she saw the caller ID read Mommy, she hesitated.
She thought about it, then took the call anyway.
"Xiao Ming, are you coming home this weekend?"
Zhang Ruowei braced herself and said it quietly. "Auntie~"
On the other end, Sun Juan heard a girl's voice and sat straight up off the sofa. "Is that Ruowei? Xiao Ming's mentioned you. How come you're answering his phone? Where is he?"
Zhang Ruowei answered as sweetly as could be. "We were out to dinner with some friends tonight and he had a little to drink. He's passed out in the car now. I hired a driver to bring him home, but all I know is which complex he lives in — I don't know which building. Auntie, if it's not too much trouble, could you come down?"
"Of course. I'm on my way."
Sun Juan hung up and got ready to head downstairs. But she'd barely picked up her keys before she thought better of it.
Hold on.
Why am I going down there?
Can't I just give her the apartment number and the door code?
Wenhua has already met the girl anyway, and she seems perfectly nice, so I might as well let her bring Xiao Ming up herself. It might even push the two of them a little closer.
Sun Juan wasn't going to think too…
