HP: 2,760. Attack Power: 705… Those were his current health and attack attributes. With stats like that, and with the melee classes hitting and harassing him, even unleashing Sevenfold Rend wouldn’t let him kill the Holy Word Soul quickly — and so long as the Holy Word Soul stayed alive, this fight would be a slog every step of the way.
So…
Ye Tianxie suddenly began to laugh coldly, and with that cold laugh the mad blood in his chest boiled violently. He felt his heartbeat quicken and his blood run faster… because he had thought of that light like fresh blood, from when he had faced the little Immortal Spirit Beast.
The higher the attack bonus the Blood Sacrifice of Fate added, the deeper the blood-red it produced. A 100% bonus was pale red; a 400% bonus was the red of fresh blood… but a color like that demanded half his body be sent to hell as the price… because what it required was health below 1%!
Ye Tianxie moved. As his body surged forward a shrieking Cloud-Splitting Arrow flew past against his skin and a scatter of magical bombardment landed behind him. He charged the three warriors and the one Guardian — but he didn’t raise the Hour of Fate. He narrowed his eyes instead and stared at the silver-flashing weapons in their hands.
The Sword Soul’s Moon-Severing Slash arrived first, striking Ye Tianxie squarely in the chest. His movement slowed at once and a damage figure of -314 floated up above his head, with the Spear Soul’s and Blade Soul’s attacks following in the next instant…
-214, -350!
The grade of a 3-star Elite, with attack power far beyond a 3-star Elite’s. Every one of the three warriors’ skills struck Ye Tianxie, carrying off nearly a third of his health. He glanced at his health bar and let the Immovable Soul’s shield slam into him…
-320!
The enormous impact force of Berserk Shield Bash smashed Ye Tianxie back several steps and nearly onto his back. Four attacks had taken 1,198 of his health. Forcing down the dizziness the shield bash brought with it, looking at the 1,562 health he had left, the smile at the corner of his mouth turned more sinister still. He shut off the Ancient Ring of Life’s health-recovery effect, called out a low-grade health potion that restored 100 HP, and tipped his head back to drink it down.
A restoration of 100 health took Ye Tianxie from 1,562 to 1,662… With a gaze that was madness laced with a cold smile, he looked past enemies each stronger than the last and attacks closing on him one after another, and slowly raised his right hand.
“Soul of the Evil Dragon!!”
Zzzt!!
A shimmering transparent dome formed around him at his low roar, and the powerful incoming arrow and the magic from four strong Mages were all blocked outside the Evil Dragon’s wall, unable to harm Ye Tianxie in the slightest… 1,662 health was 60.2% of his total at that moment. Soul of the Evil Dragon could last six seconds at most, and then…
With Soul of the Evil Dragon on him, Ye Tianxie no longer needed to hold anything back at all. He sprinted in a straight line, his target the Summoner who had already called up six skeleton soldiers.
A Summoner’s position is always the rearmost in a party, with layer upon layer of defensive barrier guarding in front of him. The three warriors and the Guardian moved to block Ye Tianxie’s body, but before they could close, his Evil Dragon’s wall forced them aside. Ye Tianxie passed through all four without obstruction and reached the unprepared Summoner, the Hour of Fate swinging down hard.
-1355, -1367!
As Ye Tianxie’s two attacks swung out, the Holy Word Soul appeared not far off via Blink and poured pitch-black light over the Summoning Soul, fully restoring the health he had just lost. Ye Tianxie ignored him, his face dark, Dragon Rend Slash falling on the Summoning Soul without pause.
-1344, -1352, -1320, -1333!
The Holy Word Soul’s dark healing technique had a 5-second cooldown, and the Summoning Soul, with the lowest health of any of them, died under four consecutive Dragon Rend Slashes. When he fell, every skeleton soldier he had summoned vanished… and at the same moment a mass of blood-colored light exploded outward, making the atmosphere of that gloomy space as oppressive as storm clouds pressing down overhead.
Six seconds passed, and the Evil Dragon’s wall vanished. Six seconds of Soul of the Evil Dragon had dropped Ye Tianxie’s health by exactly 60% — from 60.2% down to 0.2%!!
Ye Tianxie’s health bar now looked like a black hollow, all but entirely blank; only by looking extremely carefully could one see, at the bar’s left edge, a red line so thin it was nearly impossible to make out… That was 6 points of health!
At 0.2% health, the Blood Sacrifice of Fate force-activated, and that light as thick as fresh blood enveloped Ye Tianxie’s body once again. His attack power surged madly in that instant.
“Frenzied Battle Intent!”
The berserk aura swelled again, his body turned nimble in an instant, and most immediately of all came the feeling of a body about to burst apart under overwhelming power.
Health of 6 — a number at which any enemy here could put him to death with the most casual blow. And what that tiny number bought was… 4,582 attack power!
The scene from the killing of the little Immortal Spirit Beast was repeating itself. With Ye Tianxie’s talent abilities, had he chosen to use his agility to kite them and break them one by one, there would eventually have come a moment when he had safely killed them all. It would simply have taken a very long time. But he had chosen this way… a way that could not possibly have been more insane.
One of his feet had already stepped into hell.
He raised the Hour of Fate in both hands, looked silently at the crimson Blood Feather above, then spun abruptly and brought it down hard on a space where nothing at all existed.
In the instant the Hour of Fate came down, a silver shadow appeared in the air like a phantom; the man who had meant to ambush him smelled the despairing breath of death the moment he materialized… Ye Tianxie had no ability to see through stealth at present, so he genuinely could not see the Shadow Soul while he was hidden. But his perception, several times beyond an ordinary person’s, was sharper than any stealth-detection skill or eye. The Shadow Soul could never have imagined that from the moment he began his silent approach, his movements had already fallen entirely within Ye Tianxie’s senses.
So before his ambush could be launched, the Hour of Fate struck him hard.
-9000!
BOOM!!
Unlike the usual bam of a bursting crack, the Dragon Rend Slash now let out a roar like an explosion, and in that roar the Shadow Soul’s body flew far off like a thrown bundle of straw, sailing nearly ten meters before hitting the ground and rolling to a stop in front of his own silver coffin, without a breath left in him.
No question about it: one-shot!
Wind, fire, thunder, earth, arrows… every kind of attack wove together chaotically with Ye Tianxie’s body as the target. He shifted position among the incoming magic and arrows like a ghost, and every shift took him clear of at least one attack that could easily have one-shot him. In a situation this extreme in its danger, not only was there no fear or trembling in him, there wasn’t even caution… there was excitement! The excitement kindled by powerful stimulation — and with it every ability, every thought, every scrap of will he had was set alight together, performing far above his usual standard.
With Frenzied Battle Intent on him, Ye Tianxie’s movement speed was just enough to leave the three warriors and the Guardian behind, and he caught up to the Holy Word Soul, who was moving to resurrect the Summoning Soul. Meaning to wipe out every enemy in the shortest possible time, how could he give the Holy Word Soul a chance to cast Resurrection? The Hero’s Headguard on his brow flashed with metallic light, Hero’s Heart settled over him, and Dragon Rend Slash struck straight into the man’s back.
-18026!
The yellow critical damage passed, and the Holy Word Soul pitched onto the ground without another sound. One-shot… another one-shot, and this time of a Level 20 Lord BOSS!
With the greatest nuisance removed, the smile at the corner of Ye Tianxie’s mouth deepened a few degrees… He had in fact been smiling the whole time — a natural smile with no worry in it, no unease, no pressure at all. As though from the moment he chose this method he had never once considered failing, and hadn’t cared in the least that the slightest mistake could cost him his life.
He turned back to meet the three warriors and the Guardian.
Magic attacks from the Flame Soul, Thunder Soul, Wind Soul and Earth Soul and the Bow Soul’s flying shots came without a break, arriving from different directions and linking into a dense chain that never stopped for a moment… And Ye Tianxie’s body never stopped moving for an instant either. Amid this chaos of attacks, any one of which could have one-shot him at any time, he reached the three warriors and the Guardian entirely unharmed…
So many people, so many attacks — one careless touch on Ye Tianxie would have been enough to put him to death, and yet that simple one touch was like an enormous chasm barring the way ahead, and however hard they tried, they could not cross it.
-8749! The Sword Soul died!
-8655! The Spear Soul died!
-8713! The Blade Soul died!
Three Dragon Rend Slashes; every strike hit, and every hit killed. By the time the third fell, the Sword Soul, the Spear Soul and the Blade Soul were all on the ground.
Ye Tianxie didn’t move straight on to the Immovable Soul nearest him. Instead a Dragon Shadow Slash flashed him clear of every attack and carried him to the Flame Soul’s flank, where he thrust once… a ringing crash, and the Flame Soul was one-shot with no suspense at all. Ye Tianxie turned coldly and charged the Wind Soul.
Once the protective barrier had been dismantled, the Mages with the strongest attacks had nowhere at all to hide. With Frenzied Battle Intent on him, Ye Tianxie’s movement speed now exceeded the Immovable Soul’s and all four Mages’. He closed on the Wind Soul without much effort and took his life with a single blow, then kept moving and went straight for the Thunder Soul.
One-shot! One-shot! One-shot! Under Ye Tianxie’s Hour of Fate the powerful members of the Heaven Soul mercenary corps were like a flock of pitifully fragile lambs — not one of them could withstand a single blow!
A scene that would have driven ordinary players to complete despair had turned into a magnificent performance belonging to Ye Tianxie alone. What he was picking off one after another weren’t level-two or level-three trash mobs — they were big BOSSes, each more terrifying than the last!
