Chapter 346: I’ll Widen the Gap During the Boom

"Chairman. Shall we go straight to Pyeongchang-dong?"

Having arrived two hours later than expected, with Seoul already dark, Do-beom naturally assumed Tak-hyeon would be heading for Pyeongchang-dong.

But what came out of Tak-hyeon's mouth was unexpected.

"No. Seongjungwon."

"Seongjungwon, sir?"

Do-beom's eyes went wide with surprise.

Tak-hyeon answered while looking out at the night view of Seoul.

"I need to think. So tell the house I won't be coming home tonight."

Do-beom looked at him in silence for a moment, then recalled what had happened in Ulsan a few hours earlier.

Exactly as the secretary had said, President Dae-sang Kim had arrived an hour later, together with the Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy and the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy.

He had not only attended the ribbon-cutting himself but had delivered a congratulatory address without anyone asking him to.

"I very much wanted to attend an event that will guide the Republic of Korea for the next ten years. And I have no doubt whatsoever that the revival of our nation's shipbuilding industry begins here. Our Republic of Korea places great expectations on Ilhyeon Heavy Industries."

Not content with keeping an unscheduled appointment, he had delivered an address loaded with enormous expectation, and everyone at the venue had stared at President Dae-sang Kim in astonishment.

Having finished his address, President Dae-sang Kim had spoken with Tak-hyeon and Seong-ho at once.

"He wants investment for the World Cup's success?"

At Tak-hyeon's muttering, Do-beom, lost in thought, turned his head slightly.

"Isn't that already underway?"

"It is. It's a business Gyeong-eun is leading."

Ilhyeon Hotel had signed accommodation contracts with several national teams and, working with the affiliate hotels, was deep in preparations to receive tourists coming for the matches.

"The hotel, duty-free shops, the department store — everything is fully prepared, and the President comes all the way down to Ulsan to ask for investment? Exactly how much is he asking for?"

Tak-hyeon shook his head, unable to make sense of it.

Then, recalling Chan-hyeon Park's departure, he said,

"Had Party Leader Park heard that, he'd have been frothing…
