The mysterious object!
That was Shen Cong's first feeling.
The clouds had parted to reveal the moon at last, and a surge of excitement swept his whole body. It took a full ten seconds before Shen Cong could rein in his emotions and recover his composure.
This was only a discovery — he hadn't yet lifted the veil on the mysterious object, and it was too early to celebrate.
"Keep diving!"
As the submersible went on descending, the red light grew brighter and brighter, the image on the screen clearer and clearer. Fifty more meters down, the object the red light represented finally came into focus — clear enough, at last, to make out just what it looked like.
The camera panned, and the object's location soon came clear to Shen Cong as well.
This was the bottom of the crack. The winding fissure originated right from here, opening into a very spacious cavern. The red-glowing object clung to the cavern wall, and it looked large — very, very large. But with no clear frame of reference, it was hard to truly judge its size.
When the red light blazed strong, all one could see was a wash of radiance.
When the red light receded, its true face was revealed: it seemed to be a mass of stone, light flickering in the crevices between.
"A bit like magma? And a bit like an Infernal?" Shen Cong's thoughts leapt to a monster from Warcraft, the Infernal — its form being a mass of stone shot through with yellow-green light.
Except the Infernal was humanoid, while the red-glowing object was just a heap of magma-like stone.
Before Shen Cong could even get a careful look at what exactly the red-glowing object was made of, all at once the red light in the crevices of the magma-like stone flared to its fullest. The monitor image went a sheet of crimson, and in the next instant Shen Cong felt an irrepressible, powerful craving to devour welling up in his heart.
