Chapter 423: A Three-Way Standoff

The Mushroom Cannon's power was beyond measure — two rounds, and the snail shell was gravely wounded.

Even Shen Cong, so full of confidence a moment before, couldn't help his expression darkening. The human survivors here — Bug Warriors and evolved people locked in endless strife — had, by his estimate, thoroughly lost industrial civilization. Yet somehow they could still manufacture devastatingly powerful weapons, and a sense of crisis lingered in Shen Cong's chest, refusing to disperse.

Capable of caving in — and finally cracking open — the bone-gold shell of a peerless jin beast at least in the Lv1 Pure Gold Era, possibly in the Lv2 Pitch-Black Era.

At a glance, the Mushroom Cannon's killing power was very nearly a match for nuclear weapons.

Hiding on the far side of the Snail Traveler, Shen Cong furrowed his brow in thought. "How is a Mushroom Cannon breaching the snail shell? What exactly is it?"

The unremarkable-looking Mushroom Cannon seemed to be a beefed-up version of the Mushroom Arrow — but who'd have expected such enormous power.

Mushroom Arrows were like so many small artillery shells; the Mushroom Cannon was large-caliber ordnance.

It carried both the shockwave of a thermal weapon and a potent striking effect against Activity-rich materials.

"The shockwave has to be released by a high-intensity chemical reaction, and as for the effect on the snail shell… the only thing that produces this is toxic material. The Mushroom Cannon must be some kind of potent Activity-corroding toxic material — that's the only way its explosive force could destroy the shell's metallic structure in an instant."

Toxin armaments — a category Shen Cong had only recently come to value again, on account of the Butterfly Daze Powder.

He never dreamed products as inconceivable as the Mushroom Cannon and Mushroom Arrow existed. This was, without question, the most destructive toxin armament Shen Cong had ever seen.

More powerful even than a core armament.

At the same time, Shen Cong shot a glance at the great snail, cowering and trembling inside its shell, and sighed inwardly.

"I never got a chance to…
