All six fog-source settlements were built around Yunlong Lake.

Yunlong Lake had been one of Xuzhou's top-rated scenic districts. Of course, the scenery today looked nothing like it once had. This was a key habitat for the White Fortune Moth, because vast stretches of Black Bug Grass grew along the shore, and the moths liked to lay their eggs on it — the larvae fed on it too.

Enormous numbers of those larvae would become Black-Bug White Fog, releasing White Fog Fungi that thickened into heavy banks of mist. That was what drove every last Xuzhou survivor to cluster around Yunlong Lake.

The lake teemed with fish and shrimp — a vital source of food.

Under Han Shoucheng's steady, patient prodding, the two Rainbows, Luo Jingning and Yue Chuanshan, along with the six Grassfolk, couldn't keep a single secret. They poured out everything they knew.

"Six fog-source settlements. Seventeen iron people, three hundred twenty-nine jin people, over eight thousand ordinary folk. Not a huge population for Xuzhou's survivors — but they've been feeding off fog fungi for a long time, so they won't be weak." Even as he pumped them for information, Han Shoucheng turned to Shen Cong. "Major General Hu, take a look at these two, Luo Jingning and Yue Chuanshan. Roughly what range would you put their strength in?"

"Can't tell."
