Chapter 242: A Lv1 Era Shen Cong Beast

10:30 PM. Seventh Siphon event.

Activity Value: 3.001H. The Talent ceiling of 3.012H was 0.011H away — exactly one more Siphon transfer.

“One more. The last one.”

“I’ve finally reached this day. The Lv1 era. The apocalyptic storm began May 18th. The final push, December 15th. Seven full months — and I’ve finally arrived at the turning point of evolutionary life.”

“What comes next? What does the iron person’s evolution look like? Will it be like the Old Pearl Mussel — full-body metallic transformation beginning to propagate? Or something else entirely?”

“Will this be an Activity accumulation event for me personally? Will metal replace my body tissue and become a new kind of living shell?”

“How should someone who is one organism with a vehicle even enter the Lv1 era?”

“Will I become a Terminator — a new form of human? Or will I become something else — a Shen Cong Beast?”

These questions had no answers yet. Tonight would begin to answer them, one by one.

The half-hour buffer interval passed quickly.

He cleared his mind, gathered his focus, and waited for the Siphon.

11:05 PM. Eighth event. The last one.

BOOM.

Activity erupted through him — filling every corner of his body simultaneously.

The count climbed: 3.002H. 3.003H. 3.004H… 3.011H. And then, under his careful perception, the final increment — 3.012H.

In that instant, he felt something seal.

Like a cork pushed into a bottle — his Activity Value was full, and the sense of measuring it vanished. He couldn’t perceive how much Activity he held anymore; he could only sense that he was 3.012H Talent, and the distinction between current value and capacity had disappeared. What had been a bottle he could shake and hear the liquid moving inside had become a sealed tin can.

Activity and body had merged into something that felt inseparable.

Strange. But stranger still was what Great Vajra was sending through the bond.

The moment Shen Cong crossed into the Lv1 era, he felt it: Great Vajra’s liquid Activity — what had always moved like fluid through the vehicle’s metal framework — began to solidify. Like water freezing. Point by point, increment by increment, the liquid Activity converted to solid state, merging with the metal framework until the two were indistinguishable.

It took only a few seconds. All of it.

“This feeling…”

He couldn’t find words for it. He had entered something strange and extraordinary — a state in which his connection to Great Vajra felt closer than it ever had, as if the boundary between them had thinned to nothing; as if he had shed some constraint his flesh imposed on him and risen into a different quality of existence; as if his perception of Activity itself had sharpened to the point where it felt as natural as breathing.

He felt the cold night wind pressing against Great Vajra’s outer armor. Cool. Immediate.

He felt his own body — the heat of the Siphon fading into a subtle tingling that moved through his skin, like something inside him was beginning to change.

He reached out and touched the metal wall of the vehicle.

Slowly — the metal began to soften under his hand.

His fingers pressed into it. The metal gave way. It flowed around his hand, enclosing it. Then it began to move upward along his arm.

His whole forearm disappeared into metal.

Where the metal met his skin, there was no boundary sensation — no distinction between flesh and metal. They felt like one thing. Shen Cong felt himself stop being a person and start being a mass of metal, sitting in the snowfield, resisting the cold.

The feeling was so complete, so totalizing, that he couldn’t quite locate where he ended and the vehicle began.

The metal continued spreading upward.

When it reached his shoulder, he pulled himself back.

In that instant, the feeling shattered. The extraordinary merged-state collapsed like a wave withdrawing from the shore. The metal that had enclosed his arm began to retreat, flowing back into the wall.

He breathed.

Hard.

What had just happened was genuinely alarming. For a moment — several moments — he had been Great Vajra. His human identity had simply ceased to feel relevant.

“What just happened? Is this where my evolution goes — becoming one with the vehicle entirely? Becoming something wrapped in a metal shell that forgot it was ever a person?”

“Or — will I become a Transformer? A human with an automobile body?”

He shook the cascading thoughts loose and made a practical decision: research first, speculation later.

“Great Vajra entering the Lv1 era — my biggest concern is whether the liquid-to-solid Activity conversion eliminates the ability to alloy. Let me check.”

He picked up an un-alloyed section of wire-drawing die stock.

He pressed it against Great Vajra’s metal wall and began guiding the alloying process.

And immediately found something different.

Great Vajra could no longer use its own Activity for alloying. The Activity had fused with the metal framework into solid state — and solid-state Activity, as he’d observed in evolved beasts and evolved people, couldn’t drive alloying. The mechanism was gone.

But — Great Vajra began drawing in ambient Activity from outside, conducting it like a wire into the die stock. A different alloying mechanism. The Activity moved through Great Vajra as a conduit, charging the external piece.

The alloyed die stock didn’t become part of Great Vajra. The Talent ceiling had been reached — there was no capacity to incorporate it as part of the vehicle. The stock was successfully charged with Activity, but couldn’t become an activated metal component bonded to Great Vajra.

“The alloying ability is gone — replaced by Activity channeling. And I can’t guide Great Vajra to extend into the die stock either. Has Great Vajra become an indivisible whole?”

He frowned. The loss of direct alloying and extension meant the fabrication capability he’d relied on — the ability to use Great Vajra as a forge for new metal tools and components — was gone. Significantly reduced utility.

“At least I still have the Half-Activated Armor. That failed metal life-form still has alloying and extension capability. I need to be very careful with it from here on.”

Then a different question surfaced: “Great Vajra is an indivisible whole now — but what happens if it takes damage? If a piece comes off?”

He tested it. Cut a piece of metal away from the hull.

The detached piece behaved like flesh-gold — not rapidly vaporizing Activity, but dissipating it slowly. Great Vajra with solid-state Activity had begun, in some ways, to resemble evolved beast tissue. And the moment the cut was made, the sensation was unmistakable: it felt exactly like cutting off a piece of his own flesh. The clarity of it was startling. No pain — but the sense of loss was completely real.

He pressed the cut piece back against the damaged surface and guided the alloying process.

The alloying ability returned.

The detached piece was integrated back into the vehicle — reincorporated, whole again.

“So — under normal intact conditions, Great Vajra no longer alloys. But when a piece is missing, the alloying ability reappears to restore it. Not ideal, but workable. Future damage doesn’t have to mean permanent loss.”

Past midnight. He was still awake, still exploring, still full of the energy of the threshold he’d just crossed.
