Only after entering the Greater Khingan range did Shen Cong understand what Zhang Changde had meant by fragile geology.

The mountains were full of landslides, cave-ins and fissures of every kind. Traces of erupted lava were everywhere, hot vapor curled and drifted up from craters, and the glow of lava was just as thickly scattered.

The Greater Khingan range was basically shattered.

An ordinary battle-truck couldn't get through here at all, even Zhang Changde's, now that he'd evolved to particle-grade and fitted it with four Qilin Arms. Shen Cong's battle-truck could barely manage it either. Luckily he'd had the foresight not to drag the Train Convoy along, leaving it in Ulanhot at the foot of the mountains.

Brother Dao stayed with the Train Convoy. It had gotten used to tagging along with Shen Cong, and though it had loved the treatment in Beijing City, it had come along anyway.

With Brother Dao guarding the Train Convoy's three cars and the researchers in them, they would be safe.

"Blackhead, hold on tight!"

Shen Cong gave Blackhead, sleeping comfortably, a kick, projected his willpower and set his thoughts turning.

Smartbrain No. 1 seemed to switch on all at once, sparks flying inside it like ten thousand bolts of lightning.

The Vajra, already transformed into Spider form, suddenly bent its four front and rear wheel 70Bs to a slanting ninety-degree angle. Then the four Qilin Arms snapped back into place hard, springing out with tremendous force, like springs.

Ba-boom!

Dust flew and rock shattered.

The Vajra, over three hundred tons, leaped high with world-splitting force, more than twenty meters off the ground. At its magnificent peak, it cleared a ten-meter-wide fissure in front of it. It hung in the air for a tenth of a second, then dropped abruptly and landed just on the far side of the fissure. The huge impact of the fall shattered the rock at the fissure's edge.

The Vajra lost its footing and nearly fell with the collapsing rock.

But Shen Cong's expression didn't change. The proto-Firestarter flickered, Smartbrain No. 1 flickered, and the four front and rear…
