"Where are your battle pets?" Seeing Shen Cong getting impatient, Chen Xiuni changed the subject. There was a time when she'd been furious with Shen Cong for breaking his word. They'd agreed to have a child together, and then he'd vanished without a trace.

Time had smoothed all that over. Meeting again, they were back to being casual acquaintances, the way they'd been at the start.

Or, put another way, she had never figured out what kind of person Shen Cong really was. Sometimes she found him strong, wise, proud, every inch the powerhouse. Other times she found him cold, a loner, stubborn, not right in the head. Either way, he was no ordinary person.

"You split up with them?"

"Yes." Shen Cong glanced at Chen Xiuni. He didn't much like the question.

"Too bad. I wanted to see whether they'd entered particle-grade. When the government set up the god-level titles, it even held a special discussion on whether to give your battle pets titles. Last time we asked you, you didn't answer."

The four-legged dragon had already reached particle-grade. Yellow Great-Immortal was still a little short, and Shen Cong planned to keep training it when he got back.

But he didn't want the new government to know any of this. Staying mysterious was the only way to stay intimidating. Toward the new government, Shen Cong was minded to cooperate, and of course minded to stay on guard too.
