In his disguise, Ning Chen went back to the prince's residence with Yudie, Zisu and the others.

The household took him for a eunuch escorting Yudie and the others home and paid him little attention... It happened all the time.

Her Majesty often summoned the two Secondary Princess Consorts to the palace and then had eunuchs and inner palace guards escort them back.

Nobody there thought twice when people from the palace turned up at the prince's residence.

As soon as he got back, Ning Chen changed into an inner palace guard's uniform.

The An Emperor had sent quite a few inner palace guards to keep the prince's residence safe.

So in a guard's uniform, Ning Chen wouldn't draw any attention.

He took a turn around the residence and came back.

"How come I haven't seen Old Pan or Old Feng?"

Yudie shook her head. "I don't know. We all came back together... They probably went out."

Ning Chen was a little bored.

He looked at Zisu. "I feel kind of run-down. Could you brew me some of the Nine Yang Decoction for Nourishing the Source?"

Zisu nodded. "Sure. I'll make it for you."

Zisu brewed the decoction for him, but even after he'd drunk it, Feng Qizheng and Pan Yucheng still weren't back.

Bored stiff at home, Ning Chen left the residence to wander the streets.

He hadn't been back in the capital for a long time.

Like some street loafer, Ning Chen strolled here and wandered there.

Before he knew it, he'd walked as far as the Heavenly Blessing Tower.

It made him think of the Xuan Emperor. Every time he used to come back to the capital, the Xuan Emperor would have his favorite roast duck ready and waiting.

He wondered where that old emperor of his was now.

Had he heard the news that Ning Chen was dead?

Ning Chen was a little worried. The Xuan Emperor was getting on in years, and he couldn't take a shock like that.

When he got back, he'd have Xiao Yanxi send someone with a letter to the Xuan…
