Boom, boom, boom!!!

Dozens of carts blew up one after another, and the Nanyue cavalry got the worst of it.

They'd wanted to haul the supplies back, so they'd been crowded right around the carts.

So the carts went off practically in the middle of a crowd.

On Pan Yucheng's orders, a lot of satchel charges had been hidden in the carts, and the blasts were terrifyingly powerful.

Never mind the enemy soldiers near the carts.

Even Zhuo Chi and his men, a hundred paces away, were knocked flat by the shock wave. Their heads rang, and it was a long time before they came back to their senses.

The explosions cost the enemy dearly in dead and wounded.

Bai Yixian was blown through the air, horse and all, and half his body was torn and bloody.

Zhang Xu was blown off his feet too. His back was raw and bloody, and he was coughing up mouthfuls of blood.

The blasts tore great craters in the ground and sent dirt flying.

The enemy's losses were horrific. The surviving warhorses panicked, threw their riders and bolted, and plenty of the men who'd been thrown were trampled to death by the frightened horses.

Zhuo Chi sat up, smacking his dazed head and rubbing the small of his back.

The blast had knocked him off his horse too, and the fall had left him seeing stars.

Luckily, the warhorses they rode had been hand-picked by Pan Yucheng. They'd been through battle and didn't spook easily.

Even so, the roar of the explosions was so terrifying that a good number of the horses still panicked.

But Zhuo Chi had no time to worry about that now. He swung back into the saddle and roared, "Men, advance twenty paces and loose!"

The three thousand men quickly pushed forward twenty paces.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!!!

A sky full of arrows came pouring down.

Bloodcurdling screams rang against the sky.

The enemy had already lost heavily, and by now they had fallen apart completely.

Volley after volley came down, and the enemy fell like wheat under the sickle.
