Ning Chen came out of the building and stopped dead.

He stared blankly at the strange surroundings.

Xiao Yanxi and the others came hurrying out after him.

Ning Chen muttered in confusion, "Where is this? Why am I here?"

Seeing Ning Chen like this, Xiao Yanxi felt her heart was about to break.

The Ning Chen of bright clothes and a spirited horse, who'd ridden across battlefields and swept all before him—how brilliantly he'd shone.

And now he was in a daze.

Xiao Yanxi went to him, hugged his arm and tried to comfort him. "Ning, dear, this is the Yuliu clan. Someone planted a gu in you, and we came here to get it out.

Xiao Yanxi fought back the urge to cry. "That's all because of the gu in you. Don't worry. Once it's out, you'll remember everything."

Ning Chen gave a slight nod. "Is it easy to get out?"

Xiao Yanxi nodded. "Don't worry. Everyone in the Yuliu clan raises gu. Nobody knows gu better than they do. They'll find a way to cure you."

Ning Chen said, "Mm!"

The old clan head came over with Mu Zhaozhao.

"You'll stay here for now. In a while this old one will send over a few packets of medicine. It's not to be boiled and drunk—just put it in his bathwater and let him soak in it!"

Xiao Yanxi's face lit up. "Elder, will this medicine get the yang gu out of Ning, dear?"

The old clan head shook her head. "If only it were that easy. This medicine can only hold the yang gu down a little, so the boy sleeps a bit less.

As for how to get the yang gu out, I'll call the clan elders together to discuss it and give you an answer tomorrow."
