Chapter 206 – Visitors

"Shall we go see about dinner, then?"

I smacked my lips.

It was a godsend.

The strange chicken I'd met here.

I'd first run into it not long ago.

Jet-black all over, like a black-boned chicken.

Nearly the size of an ostrich.

I'd let out a whoop.

It definitely wasn't a chicken, but I chose to believe it was.

The problem was, it really wasn't an ordinary chicken.

The thing was ridiculously fast, like it had super turbos strapped to its feet.

It even flew like a bird.

Every few days, it flew off toward the mountains in the distance and came back.

I tried to catch it with the Sylph, but the spirit shook its head hard.

When I shot arrows at it, it didn't even look at me.

I'd been eating nothing but fruit and was sick to death of it, so I went after those chickens with everything I had.

But I couldn't catch them.

They were dangerous, no doubt about it.

I finally tracked down where they roosted.

The eggs were wherever that rooster—crowing his head off right now—made his home.

The henhouse was at the very top of the tallest temple in the outer castle.

Giving in to the temptation of the Chicken Almighty, I raided the henhouse at the risk of my life.

One rooster, three hens.

My mouth watered the moment I saw them.

But up close, I realized I couldn't eat them.

A black aura covered their bodies like a shield.

My sword bounced off.

However much internal energy I poured in, it didn't make a dent.

They were right there in plain sight, and nothing I did could break through.

If I threw a fit, they'd toss me one egg the size of an ostrich egg.

Just one a day.

The super-chickens looked at me with pity every time.

I received each egg with tears in my eyes.

It wasn't the Chicken Almighty, but the giant egg deserved hymns and worship.

"Cluck, cluck, in the henhouse, a golden egg for me~♬."

Before I knew it, I'd adapted to this strange world.
