My office, on the fifth floor.

When I stepped off the elevator, there was the director's office, right in front of me.

Office 501, the one on my business card.

I opened the door and walked in, and the sight was something else.

Black marble floors with a soft high gloss, an unusual bookcase and desk in black shot through with silver, and a black leather sofa that showed off its heft.

The black-centered interior was quietly high-end.

In cheap materials it would've looked tacky, but you could tell real money had gone into it.

CEO Hwang Yeon-tae clearly had taste.

"This looks like an entertainment director's office, all right."

Nothing like my own office.

This one overflowed with energy and flashes of style.

"Not a speck of dust, either."

An air purifier was running.

A brand-new monitor sat on the desk.

The bookcase held a fair number of books for decoration.

It had been done up with my money, but I didn't begrudge a cent.

The office was very well kept.

Knock, knock.

Someone knocked outside.

"Come in."

"Haha. Director Jang, welcome to work."

CEO Hwang Yeon-tae walked in with a big smile, looking healthier than the last time I'd seen him.

He must have been told I'd arrived.

"I'm a little late for my first day, aren't I?"

"Not at all. You have a lot on your plate—don't give it a thought. Think of this as your place to unwind, Director."

"Won't the staff say something?"

"They've probably figured it out. If anyone says anything to your face, fire them. As the real owner of the company, you're entitled to that much."

Manager Hwang had changed a lot.

My first impression had been of a stiff, uptight man, but now he even slipped in a joke or two.

I'd invested, but I didn't touch management at all.

The only exception was hiring: I did the face-reading interviews myself.

I weeded out anyone who'd be bad for the company.

A face isn't everything, but it was plenty to go on.
