Clunk.

"You're home?"

Seong-ho Kim came in, and Gyeong-eun Lee was there to meet him, glad to see him, their daughter on her hip.

"I keep telling you, you don't have to come out like this every time."

"Still. You come home worn out from work. Somebody should be here to meet you."

"Haven't you worked just as hard today yourself?"

Seong-ho Kim waved at his daughter, who was stretching out her arms to be picked up.

"Daddy'll wash up first, then he'll hold you."

"Nnnh!"

Seo-yeon Kim still wanted her father to hold her, and kept reaching for him. Seong-ho Kim smiled at the sight of her and gave her cheek a light poke with one finger.

"What's Dong-min doing?"

"He's in Grandmother's room right now, playing go-stop with Grandmother." (TL Note: Go-stop is Korea's most popular card game, played with hwatu flower cards, usually for small money — a family and drinking-table fixture.)

"Hahahaha."

It was the last answer Seong-ho Kim had expected, and he burst out laughing.

"Mother must enjoy teasing Dong-min, the way she keeps hanging on to him."

"Dong-min knows how to play go-stop?"

"Right? It was news to me too."

Gyeong-eun Lee shook her head, as though it had surprised her too.

Just then the housekeeper came over to where Gyeong-eun Lee and Seong-ho Kim were standing.

"Vice-Chairman. The Chairman asks you to come to the study."

"Yes. I'll go up."

Seong-ho Kim said he would, then smiled at Gyeong-eun Lee and his daughter.

"I'll pay my respects to the Chairman and come up after you, so go on up first. Princess. I'll play with you all you want later. See you soon."

Seong-ho Kim said he was going to see Tak-hyeon Lee and headed for the study, still smiling.

Leaving behind Gyeong-eun Lee's call to come back quickly and Seo-yeon Kim's whining, Seong-ho Kim walked to the study and knocked carefully on the door.

Knock, knock.

"Come in."

Tak-hyeon Lee's voice came back telling him to come in, and Seong-ho Kim pushed the door open and stepped through.

"Chairman. You sent for me?"
