In the main hall were Uncle Chai and Yudie, and several of the house guards.

On the floor, a man and a woman, trussed hand and foot.

The man looked like one of the household men. Ning Chen did not know him — there were too many people in the residence and he had not learned all their faces even now.

The woman Ning Chen did know. It was Guan Rongrong.

There was something very wrong with both of them — faces flushed, eyes unfocused, moans coming out of their mouths.

"These two have both been dosed with an aphrodisiac."

Zisu said it.

Ning Chen frowned and looked at Uncle Chai. "Why is she still in the residence?"

He remembered instructing Uncle Chai to give Guan Rongrong some silver and have her leave the marquis's residence.

Uncle Chai said hurriedly, "We were going to send her off, but she suddenly caught a chill... This old servant thought to wait until she was well again and then let her go."

Ning Chen made a sound of acknowledgment and said mildly, "Can anyone tell me what this is about?"

Yudie went through the whole thing.

For the past several days it had been all over the residence that Ning Chen had taken Guan Rongrong to his bed.

That Guan Rongrong was to become the third mistress of the Ning residence.

Because somebody had seen Ning Chen go into Guan Rongrong's room that night.

Yudie naturally did not believe it.

If Ning Chen had really taken Guan Rongrong, he would have said so openly and without any fuss.

Today Guan Rongrong had suddenly come to her, saying she had something important to tell her.

But the moment she was through the door Guan Rongrong dropped to her knees in front of her and begged her to put in a word so that Ning Chen would take her.

Yudie was not a jealous woman.

As long as Ning Chen was happy, that was enough.

But this Guan Rongrong wanted something far too badly.

The gossip going around the residence lately had probably been spread…
